Kindness
Being kind is truly powerful. Think about what we could achieve in our organization if we chose to be kind to the people we come in contact with. We wouldn’t make our coworkers feel judged, embarrassed, or not heard. They would feel seen, appreciated, accepted, and respected. Try to be kind no matter the person or situation. Being kind is a simple way to improve your organizations’ employee morale. The best thing about being kind is that is requires no rules and it is free!
Smile and make eye contact with coworkers, customers, and clients. Being polite is simple and kind. Let someone go first in a meeting, hold the door open for others, and acknowledge everyone with a smile.
Being helpful shows kindness. Help coworkers when they ask for assistance, make sending a kind email to your coworkers a daily/weekly habit.
Study shows that humans tend to mirror each other; we reflect on what we see in others. Chose your actions carefully as they can make a difference in the happiness and generosity in your coworkers. Kindness has been shown to increase self-esteem, empathy, and compassion, and improve mood. Kindness creates trust, which builds teams and strengthens organizations.
