Populus Awarded Contract through Sourcewell to Support SMART Grant Recipients

Cities can leverage the cooperative purchasing power of Sourcewell to advance their curb management strategies.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Populus, the global leader in curb and mobility management solutions, is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Sourcewell Curb Management Contract. This contract signifies a significant milestone in Populus’ mission to assist cities in managing the future of mobility and the ever-growing congestion at the curb.

Populus will deliver their Curb Manager Platform through this contract as a solution to address the complex challenges that cities face at the curb. In today’s urban landscapes, curbsides have transcended their traditional role as parking spaces to become vital components of transportation infrastructure. With the rise of new mobility modes such as ridehailing, delivery services, micromobility, and autonomous vehicles, curbs have become focal points for managing transportation safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

This Sourcewell Curb Management Contract aims to enhance transportation efficiency through advanced smart city technologies and systems. This includes digitization and inventorying of curb regulations, development of APIs for monitoring and reporting on activity at the curb, data analytics to support dynamic management, and digitized permit systems. All of which can be supported by Populus Curb Manager.

This contract, which supports SMART Grant Recipient Cities, aligns with the objectives of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s SMART Grant program. By facilitating demonstration projects focused on smart city technologies, the program aims to improve transportation efficiency and safety while fostering innovation and building data and technology capacity for local governments.

Populus’ Sourcewell contract builds on their prior experience delivering curb management solutions to the cities of Seattle, San Francisco, and Miami to digitize their curbside regulations. Their robust platform and consultative services have been leveraged by cities seeking to build “the digital curb” to improve management of connected fleets.

“We are thrilled to be awarded the Sourcewell Curb Management Contract,” shared Regina Clewlow, CEO and Co-Founder of Populus. “This contract represents a significant opportunity for us to collaborate with grant recipient cities in solving complex urban mobility challenges. By leveraging our expertise and innovative solutions, we look forward to helping cities optimize their curb space, enhance transportation efficiency, and improve the overall quality of life for residents and businesses.”
